Dear Governor Cuomo,Speaker Silver and Majority Leader Skelos,

My family and I receive home care services through the New York City Human Resources Administration home attendant program. These are lifesaving services that preserve independence and dignity. Their quality depends on the workers who come every day to cook, clean, bathe and provide personal care. I am very concerned that the move to mandatory managed care will result in my hours of service being cut.

I am also very concerned that my home attendant will be forced to leave or take a significant cut in already low wages and lose health insurance.Unless managed care companies are required to maintain the same level of reimbursement that home attendant agencies are currently receiving through New York City, it will adversely affect the quality of the services I am receiving. We urge you to do the right thing and protect quality of care by maintaining personal care reimbursement rates.
